Join us in the fight against skyrocketing prescription drug prices in Colorado! Drugs don’t work if people can’t afford them, and no Coloradan should have to choose between paying for basic necessities and taking the medications that will improve their health.
This spring, Colorado legislators created new and robust protections to stop surprise out-of-network medical bills and their egregious charges. Unfortunately, the new protections, which go into effect January 1, 2020, cannot protect ALL Coloradans. The new protections cannot apply to Coloradans who are insured through federally regulated health insurance plans. Only Congressional action can ensure all Coloradans share the same protections from surprise medical bills and their disastrous consequences.
This legislative session we advocated for and passed HB19-1004 to create a public option for health coverage in Colorado. A public option can bring more competition and more affordable health insurance options to Coloradans. Now that the bill has passed, the real work begins!
