Health Care Day of Action // Día de Acción sobre la Asistencia Médica 2026

What is HCDA?
Health Care Day of Action (HCDA) is an opportunity for anyone to get involved in shaping the future of health care in Colorado! This will be a day for Coloradans to learn, advocate and meet their representatives, and requires no previous knowledge or experience. Our policy team, and advocacy partners will provide support in engaging directly with the Colorado state legislative process.

Why HCDA?
We believe a representative government should reflect the voices of the people it serves. Most Coloradans have interacted with the health care system, and your experiences matter. We want to affirm that you are experts of your own experience and encourage you to share that expertise with your elected representatives.

How You Can Participate?
While HCDA provides the opportunity to speak directly with legislators, it can also be a chance to observe, learn more about state government, and build community with other Coloradans!

2026: People Over Profit
As CCHI is not running a bill this legislative session, we want HCDA to be a space to uplift the amazing work of many of our partner organizations, and to ground our work in our hopes for the future of health care.

This legislative session is expected to be budget-heavy, with difficult decisions that could impact access, affordability, and quality of care. Corporate consolidation continues to drive high costs without consistent improvements in quality, while medical debt and gaps in health coverage affect too many families.

This year, HCDA focuses on the principle that health care should prioritize people over profit. We want participants to see how state policy decisions like, oversight of mergers and acquisitions, protecting insurance affordability programs, and strengthening medical debt protections,  directly affect real people and communities.
We want discussions at HCDA to center our core values: the needs of patients and communities, and the vision for a health care system that is accessible, accountable, and fair. We want advocates to see that sharing their stories and experiences is a powerful tool for influencing legislators and shaping budgets and policies that work for people, not corporations. We want participants to leave feeling informed, supported, and empowered, knowing that collective advocacy can create real change in health care.

Event Description: HCDA will include a keynote address, panels with legislators and bill sponsors, and dedicated time for in‑person attendees to speak directly with lawmakers and observe the legislative process at the Capitol. Breakfast and lunch are provided for all in‑person participants.
