What a year! I am taking a few minutes to remember all the things CCHI accomplished in 2011. For the past year, we’ve been working to ensure that Coloradans have access to the health care they need, when they need it.  As a statewide, non-partisan, non-profit coalition CCHI is a representative of our members at the legislature and in the community.

Support our work by contributing $15, $50 or $100 dollars online now.

CCHI has had a handful of successes this year that we want to tell you about:

  • We helped pass Senate Bill 200, creating the Colorado Health Benefit Exchange: CCHI’s team down at the capitol supported this instrumental piece of legislation, creating a competitive health insurance marketplace in Colorado. We continue to monitor and support the development of this marketplace, which when launched will increase access to affordable coverage for Coloradans.
  • Defeated Attempts to “Opt-Out” of Health Care Reform: Despite the conclusive defeat of Amendment 63 to opt-out of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate in 2010, and the defeat of similar measures in the legislature last year, opponents of health care reform introduced the Health Opportunity and Patient Empowerment Act (HB1273), attempting to opt-out of the federal law once again. CCHI represented its membership down at the capital to help defeat this attack.
  • Launched a creative and innovative campaign called, Thanks, Obamacare:In the fall of 2011 CCHI worked with ProgressNow Colorado Education to launch this online education campaign about the Affordable Care Act. The campaign, which features a website, the top 10 reasons to Thank Obamacare, a timeline of the implementation of the law and the top 10 myths about Obamacare has been hugely successful in drawing media coverage to the benefits of the Affordable Care Act.

As we move into 2011, CCHI will continue to work to protect the interest of consumers and move Colorado closer to having accessible and affordable health care for all.

With your continued support, we can continue to fight this fight in 2012 and beyond.  Please consider contributing to this effort with a donation of $15, $50 or $100 dollars now.

Thank you for your support – it is critical to our work!
