On October 27, 2011 the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative gathered friends, supporters, peers and advocates to celebrate another year of successfully advocating for barrier-free access to health care for all Coloradans.

The event, held at the Museo de Las Americas, was a huge success. Thank you to everyone that joined us that night to support CCHI in our continued efforts.

Thank you to Senator Michael Bennet for acting as keynote speaker that night.  Senator Bennet continues to work to improve access to health care for Coloradans.  As a proven leader on health care reform, he continues to fight in Washington to defend federal health reform and address issues of access, quality and cost.

A champion of delivery system reform that saves lives and money, Bennet authored a bill called the Medicare Care Transitions Act, which is based on groundbreaking work being done in Colorado to reduce costly and preventable hospital readmissions that cost Medicare $17 billion a year. According to the Denver Post, the care-transitions program upon which Bennet’s bill is modeled has demonstrated hundreds of millions of dollars in potential Medicare savings in Colorado.

Having access to the care you need when you need it is not too much to ask.  Here at CCHI we will continue to work together with elected officials like Senator Bennet and supporters like you to bring Colorado closer to that common sense goal.  Thank you again to everyone that attended the event. You can check out photos of the event on our Facebook page.

If you missed our event this year but would like to donate to our efforts you can do so online on our Donate page.
