Callie spent her early years studying music and performing in different bands, orchestras, and avant-garde art projects in her hometown of Austin, Texas. Over the next several years, she and her partner traveled internationally and lived in Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii before finally planting roots in Denver, Colorado. Callie’s diverse experiences traveling and living in unique locations increased her awareness of social justice issues and awakened her passion for public policy and its effects on individuals and communities. Callie has since returned to academia and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at MSU Denver while honing her skills as CCHI’s policy intern. When she can find a free moment, Callie enjoys mountain road trips, naps, and listening to podcasts while walking her little dog, Arlo.
