Rising health insurance premiums and fewer options are expected to greet shoppers when health insurance markets reopen Tuesday for the next enrollment season.
Under the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies have increasingly narrowed the number of doctors covered on each plan. While the move was designed make insurance plans cheaper, it also might make finding new plans that cover your existing doctor and existing prescriptions more difficult.
“It depends largely on how somebody is accessing health care as to whether shopping around could pose some challenges for them,” said Adam Fox, of the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative.
