About the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative

COLORADO CONSUMER HEALTH INITIATIVE is a unified voice for reform: The Colorado Consumer Health Initiative is a statewide, consensus-based membership organization comprised of over 200 organizational and individual health care consumer advocates, forming a unified voice for consumers in Colorado’s health care reform debate. CCHI acts as a unified representative of its members and partners at the legislature and in the community to influence and shape effective health care policy to ensure barrier-free access to quality health care for all Coloradans. CCHI also works to empower consumers to know more about the healthcare system, and to provide tools for improving it. WHAT WE DO... Engage Consumers We encourage and develop leadership among healthcare consumers, so that all voices are included in the movement for quality, affordable health care. By bringing consumers to the table along with health care providers and community leaders, we can create a system that works for everyone. Organize Communities We build alliances and bring together people from diverse backgrounds. This inclusive approach builds a broader understanding of community needs, allows for the development of comprehensive solutions, and builds coalitions that can bring about change. Educate the Public We work with the media to bring attention to problems in the health care system that affect all Coloradans. Advocate for Change We give citizen consumers the tools they need to understand their health care options and to advocate for better health care. Through face-to-face meetings, testimony at public hearings, and outreach events, we also educate decision-makers about the healthcare concerns affecting the lives of Colorado consumers. |
